The Longest Sleep

Rains came lashing last night —

Bold.

Boisterous.

Like the love of her youth —

Wild, pouring...

Making a scene.

Drenching.

Dancing.

Not a care of shame —

Gloating,

Showing —

Her beauty, untamed.

As pure as

the start of the universe.

A spectacle,

she was.

Her moans —

soft love

on a windswept night.

She flowed on,

The life she breathed

Filling every

crevice

of the earth.

She cried out,

loud,

As she left her abode.

Now...

She is tamed.

Sleeping

by her lover’s side.

A content lingering,

A dream —

unfulfilled

came to be.

She will sleep tonight...

The longest sleep.
